Instructions for Preparation of Platform Questions
To all local contestants,
The Miss America Organization is eliminating the requirement that each contestant coming to Atlantic City write a platform essay. Instead, they are requesting that each contestant respond in writing to three questions, in as few words as is possible. As you know, the Miss Oklahoma Pageant generally adopts policy changes that are announced by the Miss America Pageant. So, accordingly, we will be eliminating the platform essays and incorporating the question format again this year.
Please use the following form and remember these guidelines.
No side margins less than one inch
No type smaller than 12 pitch may be used
Maximum of 50 lines of type including questions, but excluding heading
Contestant's signature and date must be at the bottom
It is suggested that you answer these questions as briefly as possible. Use this as a catalyst for conversation for your interview. This is not intended to inform the judges of all the important points of your platform but to give areas for discussion. In question #2, do not feel that you must go out and manufacture activities. The judges will be informed that it is not the number of accomplishments but your knowledge and commitment to your platform that is important.
